The Knoxville Raceway will hold a unique event this weekend. Flat Track Motorcycles will race for the first time at the raceway since 2012 when the AMA Flat Track Grand Nationals were held. This Saturday is the Quick Roofing Knoxville Flat Track Motorcycle Nationals featuring Big Twins, Classic Singles and Modern Open classes. The event is being promoted by former sprint car driver and multi-time Knoxville Raceway winner Craig Dollasnky and his wife Julie. Julie tells KNIA/KRLS Sports while it is half of the wheels that a sprint car has, the racing will be just as close.
Dollansky: “You have to come see them for the first time to realize how crazy these guys are. We think sprint car drivers are crazy, but these riders are not harnessed to anything just on the bikes racing close to each other, so it’s really fun racing.”
Dollansky is not sure how many riders will show up on Saturday, but all have indicated that they are looking forward to racing at Knoxville. Gates are scheduled to open at 6:00 with racing starting at around 7:00. For advance tickets you can call Craig Dollansky Promotions at 612-255-7775 for $20 or tickets will be available at the gate.
