The Knoxville Football Squad is sick and tired of losing by one point in the late stages or overtime of their games. The first two games of the season, the Panthers lost to Boone with less than a minute remaining in week one, and fell to Clarke in overtime last week after holding the lead with less than a minute remaining. Tonight, the Panthers head to South Tama for a week three contest against a team that also has found things tough out of the gates. Like the Panthers, the Trojans are also 0-2 but many of the similarities stop there. South Tama was routed in week one by Roland-Story, and fell to Charles City last week. Knoxville Coach Matt Dunkin tells KNIA/KRLS Sports this week was spent evaluating each other and simply getting back to what a certain NFL team tells their players just do your job.
Dunkin: “Every guy all 11 guys do their job, trusting their teammates. We’ve all done a nice job of stepping back and just doing our job and trusting their teammates.”
Dunkin adds his team needs to find a way to finish drives and make South Tama pay for turnovers, something that Knoxville last week struggled with after chasing a turnover. Live coverage of tonight’s game can be heard on 95.3 KNIA with the pregame starting at 6:30.
