The Norwalk boys golf team returns to competition on Monday for the Ames Invitational at Veenker Memorial Golf Course. The 18-team tournament starts at 10:00 a.m.
Playing in their seventh meet of the season, the Warriors are looking to build on last week’s second-place finish and season-best score of 315 at the Ottumwa Invite.
Norwalk coach Steve Wermerskirchen says he has a good group of golfers to work with this fall. The Warriors are a young team overall with 15 freshmen on the roster, but also have a nice mix of upperclassmen that are showing good leadership skills. Wermerskirchen says that putting is just one aspect of the game his players need to work on going forward, adding that the team needs to cut down on their three-putts if they are to be more competitive in the big meets against elite Class 4A schools.
