The Knoxville School Board approved a proposal from the Knoxville Alumni Association’s Save Our Stadium Committee in their regular session Monday night.
As part of the plan, the school district will maintain ownership of the stadium for five years, while the Alumni Association raises funds necessary for renovation. During the five year period, KCSD will maintain the facilities to meet city code. Plans for the renovation will be created by a joint committee of members from the Alumni Association and the school district. Upon completion of the five-year period, the Alumni Association would be eligible to purchase Ken Locke Stadium from the district.
Additionally, the board approved a quote of $134,000 from Pierce Fence Company for the baseball fence replacement project and a quote of $25,100 from T & T Sprinkler Service Inc. for the irrigation system at the new practice field at the middle school.
The board also approved the 32nd Annual 8th Grade Washington DC trip and updates to the student/parent handbook.
