The Norwalk boys golfers took fifth place out of 18 teams at Monday’s Turk Bowman Ames Invitational. The Warriors posted a team score of 317 at Veenker Memorial, finishing ahead of Waukee, Dallas Center-Grimes, Ankeny Centennial and Ankeny for the first time this season.
Junior Grady Sigrist paced Norwalk with a 3-over-par round of 75 and placed seventh on the day. Ian Lux scored a 79, followed by Adrian Bush with an 81 and Tillman Papcun 82.
Southeast Polk won the tournament with a score of 299, finishing 10 strokes ahead of second-place Johnston. West Des Moines Valley placed third, led by Braeden Nelson’s medalist round of 72.
Norwalk’s next meet is Thursday at Marshalltown. The Warrior cross country teams compete at West Des Moines Valley today and the Class 4A sixth-ranked volleyball team plays at Newton.
