The PCM volleyball team fell to Heart of Iowa Conference opponent Greene County at their home opener Tuesday night in straight sets.

The Mustangs started off competitive in the first set but after several different runs, the Rams were able to pull it out 25-18. In the second set it was all Greene County defeating PCM 25-15. In the last set of the night the Mustangs made a late surge and ended up evening the score at 24. However, their efforts fell just short, and they were defeated 26-24 to close out the match. PCM volleyball coach Sarah De Vries says that her team struggled with some basics tonight.

“Greene County is a great team. It was fun to go up against them, very competitive. We struggled with some basics. We just struggled a little bit with serve receive and when you struggle with that you can’t attack the ball so they beat us up in that quite a bit. They have some big power hitters so we were back on our heels a lot.”

The loss drops PCM to 1-2 in the conference and 7-8 overall on the season. The Mustangs will be back in action Saturday at the North Mahaska Invite.
