The Indianola School Board discussed possible parking lot plans for students and staff during the construction process of the Indianola High School Replace-in-Place Project. Superintendent Ted Ihns tells KNIA News the solution may not be as simple as telling students to park in a different lot, they have to keep in mind congestion and traffic.

“Parking across the street at the District Service Center for some students, possibly doing a parking lot prior to the project that was going to be done anyway so we have some added parking over there. It’s really a piece of not knowing how many students are going to drive everyday, especially when our freshman and our sophomores either get their license or school permit, knowing what that number looks like. We are trying to come up with as many viable spots as we can so when we do have parking it is not congested or all over the place.”

Ihns said the process will continue to be talked about by the school board facilities committee and in open board meetings.
