The Knoxville School Board approved the baseball fence replacement project at their meeting Monday night.

The board approved a quote submitted by Pierce Fence Company for $134,000 for the replacement project. The proposal includes replacement of all perimeter fencing at the baseball field. The district recently replaced the softball field fencing and were able to complete that work prior to the 2023 season. The baseball field requires more extensive work with more grass on the field, and in order to not disrupt the baseball season the decision was made to wait until after the 2023 baseball season to complete this work. Knoxville Community School District Business Manager Craig Mobley says that he is hopeful that work on this project will start soon.

“That work will take place here hopefully very shortly and get done so it will be the black vinyl coated fencing around the baseball field with the netting behind the backstop instead of the chain link fence, so we will get that project going.”

The motion was carried unanimously at the meeting.
