The final event of the 2023 Knoxville Raceway season will get underway tonight with the 19th Running of the Lucas Oil Late Model Nationals. Like the Knoxville Nationals in August, each driver entered will be allowed to time trial and race in heats and mains to accumulate points on both preliminary nights. The higher point total of tonight and tomorrow night will be used to set the field for Saturday night’s championship event. The format is exactly the same as the Knoxville Nationals with 200 points going to quick time, 100 points for a heat win, and 200 more points for an A-Main win. Among drivers that are pre-entered are defending champion Jonathan Davenport, three time winner Mike Marlar, and 2008 winner Tim McCreadie. $7,000 goes to the winner of tonight and tomorrow’s preliminary feature winners with Saturday’s winner’s total of $50,000 and $2,500 to start Saturday’s finale. Hot laps are scheduled to get underway at 6:45 with racing at around 8:00.
