Drought conditions continue to worsen throughout south central Iowa in the latest weekly update. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, 100% of Warren County and just over 75% of Marion County are facing severe drought conditions. The northwestern fourth of Marion County has yet to reach that point, but remains in moderate drought. Slight chances for rain are forecast for Saturday in the early morning and afternoon, but widespread, heavy rainfall is not expected.
