A pair of local teams with high hopes for the remainder of the football season clash to begin district play this evening. Pella Christian welcomes Pleasantville for the first round of Class 1A District 6, with three 2-1 schools heading into competition aiming for the title, including the Eagles and Trojans. Pleasantville is aiming to flip the script on what has been a difficult stretch and so far an unsolvable foe — the Eagles have never lost to the Trojans in 10 tries, and the last two games were particularly lopsided for the maroon and gold, with a 54-7 and 55-0 margin in the last two meetings. A much closer matchup is anticipated this time around, fueled by Caleb Cook’s nearly 600 yards rushing and veteran quarterback Ryder Thill and his five passing scores. Pella Christian will counter with their multi-pronged rushing attack, headed by Benny Schirz and his five rushing scores and Johnson Morgan’s four touchdowns. Coverage begins at 6:30 this evening on the KRLS2 stream and the Pella Christian YouTube.
