twin-cedars-melcher-dallas-showdown-rivalry

It is rivalry week in southern Marion County and someone is going to get its first win of the season. Twin Cedars hosts Melcher-Dallas in the Marion County Eight-Man Championship with both teams struggling out of the gates at 0-4. The Sabers have struggled to stay competitive this season being outscored by an average of 75-12. But Coach Cam Parker tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he feels this week will be different and hopes it is a down to the wire game.

Parker: “A pretty comparable matchup, and that’s what you want, you don’t want a blowout, you want a game that the kids are going to remember forever.”

The Saints have also struggled to be competitive in their first four games getting outscored per game 66-10. Coach Pat Ferguson tells KNIA Sports this is always one of the bigger games of the season, and hopes his team can alleviate turnovers to have a chance.

Ferguson: “This is a fun week. When you look at the schedule and you have Twin Cedars on it, and it’s your rival and both towns get up for this game. If we can take care of the ball and take away mistakes, I can see this game going either way.”

Twin Cedars is also trying for its first win in the series since 2016. Since then, the Saints have owned the series, winning the last five meetings and leading the all-time series 19-11. Kick off from Twin Cedars is set for seven.
