full-team-3

It was all Knoxville, all the time, from the opening kick to the final play overwhelming Des Moines Hoover on Friday 50-0 heard live on 95.3 KNIA. The Panthers started early with a Max Magana 21 yard pass from Noah Keefer to get the scoring going. Following a safety and a Hayden Willoughby two yard run it was 15-0 at the end of the 1st quarter and 21 more points in the 2nd quarter with Koby Higginbotham, Connor Willoughby, and Keefer getting scores to set up running clock in the 2nd half. Two more touchdowns in the 2nd half capped off the scoring as Jay Kellar electrified the crowd with a 54 yard punt return, and Chase Rider scored in the 4th quarter. Panthers Coach Matt Dunkin told KNIA/KRLS Sports it was good to get that win to build for the district that starts next week.

Dunkin: “That’s definitely a good one for us, setting up the district with Atlantic coming into town. We had a lot of guys step up for us, and we’re going to need that next week as it will be a step up for us, but we’re excited for next week.”

The Panthers totaled 210 yards on the night as they were given short field on numerous occasions by Hoover with four turnovers. Keefer was 8/13 for 121 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another, while the Huskies were held to just 51 yards of total offense. Knoxville has now evened its record at 2-2 and will host Atlantic next week for the first game of class 3A district six.
