The Monroe Honor Guild will be honoring 18 veterans from the cities of Monroe and Reasnor on Sunday, October 1st. The ceremony will take place at the Town Square Park in Monroe and is open to the public. A community church service begins the ceremony at 11 a.m., followed by the American Legion family lunch from 12:15 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. Lunch will be served at the American Legion building at 105 E Marion St. in Monroe. The ceremony concludes with the presentation of a Quilt of Valor to all 18 veterans being honored at 1:30 p.m. In the event of rain, all events will be held at the Monroe American Legion at the posted times.
