The Pella City Council approved the Marion County Hazard Mitigation Plan at their meeting Tuesday. The plan identifies regional and community hazards, assesses vulnerability, and identifies specific actions to reduce risk and is created in conjunction with Marion County Emergency Management. A professional auditing contract was also approved with Bergan KDV in Urbandale for $38,050. An extensive policy and planning was held about the following topics as well:
1. St. Mary’s Catholic Church Request Regarding the Upgrade of 218th Place
2. Discussion Regarding Regulations for Signs in the Public Right-of-Way (ROW)
3. Proposal to Nominate the Historic Fire Station to the National Register of Historic Places
4. Drafted Downtown Sound System Use Agreement
5. Remodeling of the former Pella Early Learning Center at 215 Main Street
No formal action was taken for the above items, which will be considered at future council meetings.
