An organization dedicated to historic preservation locally has their annual meeting this evening. The Pella Preservation Trust, formerly known as Historic Pella Trust, is gathering at the Pella Opera House, starting at 5:00 pm. Shawn Thomas will present his unique program: “The Story of Two Migrations,” where he discusses enticed him and his wife, Cyndi, to relocate here. Thomas will also detail his purchase and restoration of one of Pella’s oldest blacksmith shops, and saving a century-old home from demolition, moving it to a new location, and the ongoing restoration effort. The group will also host their annual Historic Preservation and Landmark Awards and a recap of our past year’s activities. Free heavy Hors Dooeuvres will be provided. At 6:30 pm the evening’s program will begin in the Auditorium.
