Drought conditions remained unchanged throughout south central Iowa in the latest weekly update. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, 100% of Warren County and just over 75% of Marion County are facing severe drought conditions. The northwestern corner of Marion County remains in moderate drought conditions. Rainfall that fell in the middle of this week missed the Tuesday cutoff for the update and will be included in next week’s report. According to the National Weather Service, slight chances for rain return to the forecast late tonight, with better chances for widespread showers and storms over the weekend.
