District play starts tonight for the Knoxville Football Squad and the first opponent is Atlantic. The Panthers have put together two wins in the last two weeks and appear to be playing with a lot of confidence as the real season starts. The Trojans like to run the ball, and that is where the Panthers’ defense has been the strongest, only giving up 87 yards per game on the ground. Coach Matt Dunkin tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he knows his front line and linebackers will be ready for the challenge.
Dunkin: “The guys up front on the defensive line have been doing great, and our backers have been doing a great job of finding the holes and fitting in there. It’s going to be 4 quarters of smashmouth football and I think our guys are ready for it.”
On the other side of the ball, the run game has still not produced the numbers anyone would like but Dunkin expects that to change in the next few games starting tonight. He adds the passing game is doing really well and he hopes that Quarterback Noah Keefer will spread the wealth around tonight. Listen for live coverage on 95.3 KNIA with the pre game starting at 6:30.
