The Pleasantville football team will host the Sigourney-Keota Cobras tonight in their homecoming game. The Trojans are now 2-2 on the season and 0-1 in district play, coming off a tough 42-14 loss to Pella Christian last week. Pleasantville has experimented with two different quarterbacks in their games this year between the starter, senior Ryder Thill, and freshman Braylon Bingham. Bingham saw more of the field last week, but the Trojan coaching staff is not concerned at the moment with a QB1 or QB2 discussion. They ultimately want the best personnel on the field in each correct situation. Senior running back Caleb Cook has continued putting together an impressive season with over 800 all purpose yards, 11 touchdowns, and 15.5 tackles on the defensive side of the football.
This week the Trojans will face a tough challenge when 3-1 Sigourney-Keota comes to town. The Cobras are coming off an impressive stomping of Cardinal last week, defeating the Comets 67-0. The Cobras run a unique single wing offense that is something a lot of teams never see. Pleasantville Football Coach Mack Jorth mentioned that their defense has to be disciplined when facing an offense like this.
“Sigourney does a fantastic job running their offense. They’re very disciplined, they’re very well coached and they know what they’re trying to do and they do it very well. You as a defense have to be very very disciplined because the ball could be in any one of three different attack points at the same time with the same look. You really have to stay home, and you really have to do your job.”
Tonight’s game against Sigourney-Keota will kick off at 7:00 pm.
