Knoxville Park and Recreation will be painting pickleball lines on the back four Knoxville tennis courts.

The Knoxville Rec Center wants to give community members more opportunities to play pickleball, which has become more popular in recent years. Pickleball is a game which can be played in singles or doubles and can be seen as a combination of tennis and table tennis rules. It is played on a court that is about half the size of a traditional tennis court. Pickleball involves cardio and is a way for anyone to stay active. Knoxville Parks and Recreation Director Brandon Nemmers says that pickleball is just one of multiple activities they offer at the rec center.

“We got all kinds of stuff here for all ages and all abilities. Everything from our open swims, to our lap swims, to our water fitness classes, to land fitness classes, weight room, cardio room, sauna, hot tub, general open play for racquetball, gym usage. Just things like that to keep people active.”
