Retiree and former Marion County Bank President and CEO Pete Verhey was recently honored by the Iowa Bankers Association for more than 50 years of service at a bank. The award was presented to Verhey during the IBA Annual Convention on Monday, Sept. 18, in Des Moines. Verhey was one of 22 individuals recognized for reaching the 50-year service milestone.
“Each year, it’s amazing to hear these bankers’ stories of dedication to their communities and the many relationships they formed throughout their 50-plus years of service. We’re honored to be able to celebrate the exemplary commitment and experience of Pete,” said IBA President and CEO John Sorensen. “This event allows us the opportunity to recognize these legendary bankers among their family and friends, and in an environment that highlights their accomplishments and dedication for our next generation of bankers.”
Pete has spent his entire 50-year banking career at Marion County Bank. He spent much of his tenure as a Loan Officer before becoming bank President in 2000. After his retirement in 2010, Pete continued to serve on the Board of Directors for Marion County Bank until January of this year, when he achieved his 50-years in banking milestone.
“Pete has always been a great leader. His servant heart is always at the core of what he does and that along with his dedication to our community has impacted so many in his 50 years of banking,” said Marion County Bank President and CEO Steve Kraayenbrink. “We are proud to celebrate Pete alongside his family and friends.”
In addition to family and friends, Pete was joined by several current and retired employees of Marion County Bank at the Iowa Bankers Association luncheon to recognize all individuals who achieved this milestone in banking.
