A work session was held Monday for the Pella School Board to discuss the district’s vision, mission, and elements. The board checked on progress made after an overhaul of those elements made in the past few years. As part of the session, teacher representatives from each building shared key initiatives and about concerns they see in the classroom. The board also approved a final contract for the high school turf and track project, a resolution to appoint UMB Bank to serve as a paying agent and bond registrar, and a tax exempt certificate, disclosure certificate, and a resolution for the payment of $20 million in School Infrastructure Bonds. Also on the agenda was approval of the certified annual report for 2022-23, as well as requests for spending authority related to special education and limited English proficient application.
