The Pella Christian volleyball team was swept 3-0 in a road Little Hawkeye Conference game at Norwalk Tuesday night, while the Eagles girls cross country team took eighth place and #17 in 2A boys squad claimed 10th place at Williamsburg.

Competing against the 4A #7 ranked Warriors, Pella Christian hung tough in the first set, before falling 25-19. Norwalk kept the Eagles at bay the rest of the way, winning the next two sets 25-14 and 25-13 to drop Pella Christian to 9-12 overall on the season and 0-4 in the league. Maggie Heinen led the Eagles offense on the night with eight kills, while Annika Van Dyke posted 16 digs and Addison Bandstra had two block assists and a solo block.   

In Williamsburg, the Pella Christian girls cross country team totaled 222 points in the meet, while the ranked boys squad had 237 points on the evening. Bailey Vos led the pack for the Eagle girls, finishing with a time of 20:25.2 to claim seventh place. Jaclyn Holmes (21:17.8) was the second runner to cross the finish line for Pella Christian in 22nd place. Sawyer Meinders was the top runner for the Eagles boys squad, taking 29th place with a time of 17:35. Find full results from the Williamsburg Cross Country Meet here

The Pella Christian volleyball team will look to bounce back from Tuesday’s loss with a home game against Grinnell Thursday night at 7:15 p.m. The Eagles cross country teams are off until Tuesday, October 3rd, when they run at the Big Red Invitational at Honey Creek Resort State Park in Moravia.
