A work session was held at the Pella School Board meeting this week with a panel of teachers to have a back-and-forth about ongoing needs in classrooms. Superintendent Greg Ebeling says the direct contact is critical for the board to understand what is going on in all of the buildings and how they can try and support education. Many of the teachers in attendance expressed exhaustion with the profession — especially as many behavioral needs have risen that are challenging to address. Ebeling says the district hired additional staff and administration last year to help with those concerns, but there is still work to do to support current teachers dealing with difficult behaviors.
