The Pleasantville Football team will travel to Colfax tonight to take on the Colfax-Mingo Tigerhawks.

The Trojans are now 2-3 on the season and 0-2 in the district after a tough 31-24 loss to Sigourney-Keota in overtime on Friday. Pleasantville gave the nod to freshman Braylon Bingham as their new starting quarterback as Ryder Thill moved to wide receiver. Caleb Cook rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns and had 12 tackles on the defensive side of the football which led the team.

Pleasantville is now looking for their first district win against the Tigerhawks, who are 1-4 on the season after a close 18-13 loss to Cardinal last week. Colfax-Mingo has a talented receiver in Shane Hostetter who leads all of class 1A in receptions. Pleasantville Head Football Coach Mack Jorth expects the Tigerhawks to go to the air quite a bit.

“I expect a spread attack, you know, air it out. They have quarterback who is kind of their main  lynch pin of their offense. Everything goes through him so we have to make sure we’re doing a good job of trying of containing him, big guy, good athlete. They have a receiver they go to a ton. He’s one of the leading receivers in 1A so we just have to make sure we identify what they’re trying to do, get lined up right, and play football fast and furious like we did Friday night and we’ll be in good shape.”

Tonight’s game against Colfax-Mingo will kickoff at 7:00 pm.
