Following a speech in Ottuwma as part of his campaign for a second term as U.S. President, Donald Trump made a stop at a farm in rural Leighton late Sunday. According to the Des Moines Register and Associated Press, Trump visited the Vande Voort farm just west of Leighton to speak with several area farmers ahead of the 2024 Iowa Caucuses. Trump made the visit after multiple campaign speeches over the weekend in Iowa, including in Cedar Rapids and Ottumwa, as many national polls show the former president with a strong polling lead over the field of GOP candidates attempting to be the next Republican nominee. Trump also signed a John Deere tractor after talking with the farm’s owners and several neighbors.
