Both the Knoxville Volleyball and Cross Country Squads are in Centerville today for events. The volleyball squad with a win over the Redettes will clinch no worse than a tie for the South Central Conference title with a chance to clinch the outright title a week from tonight. Going into the season, COach Mollie Keitges knew she had two hitters in Ella Breazeale and Brittany Bacorn but now emerging hitters Anna Buttell, Rylyn McCarty, and Hannah Dunkin have made Knoxville a tough team to defend up front.

Keitges: “It’s really fun to see Anna getting better every time out, and Rylyn has been hitting the ball better. Hannah has been ripping the ball, she has been surprising me all season. We’ve put her in different positions all season and to see her swinging from the front and the back row is really nice to see.”

First serve is at 7:15. Meanwhile the cross country squads will be at Honey Creek Resort for a meet. The Panthers will see several schools from southeastern and southern Iowa including nearly all of the South Central Conference plus Pella Christian, PCM, Melcher-Dallas and Twin Cedars. Panthers runners Natalie Collins and Ethan Russell are trying to run their best and be their best in time of the money meets of conference and State Qualifier.

Natalie: “Our goal is just to go into every meet and push each other. We’ve all had off meets and we’re just looking to finish strong and get through it.”
Ethan: “For me I just want to try my best. I still feel like I can run my best towards the end of the season.”

The cross country meet is scheduled to get underway at 4:30.
