Pella’s ranked cross country squads finished an impressive regular season with a pair of victories in eastern Iowa Monday.

The #1 in 3A Dutch girls and the #2 in 3A boys both won their respective races at Hillcrest Academy, with individual champions Canaan Dunham (16:21.54) and Marissa Ferebee (20:20.05) leading the way.

For the boys, Nathan Vander Waal placed 2nd individually (16:38.32), followed by Devon Browne (5th – 17:16.44), Aren Hellbusch (6th -17:19.33), Mason Gaulke (7th – 17:25.61), Noah Schuknecht (8th – 17:36.11), and Homecoming King Stephen Gaul (9th – 17:41.63).


Following Ferebee, the girls were paced by Autumn Blink (2nd – 20:27.8), Ruth Dunham (3rd – 20:46.87), Raegan Snieder (4th – 20:55.31), Lizzie Neumann (6th – 21:07.16), Elise Brenneman (21:21.95) and Macy Schroeder (9th – 21:42.23), who made up a dominating top seven.

Pella ran “white” teams for varsity as well, and the girls second squad was a runner-up in the varsity race. Kamry Trine led the way, finishing 8th individually (21:32.48), followed by Sophia Boonstra (10th – 22:08.96), Tess Paulsen (11th – 22:36.35), Abby Teagarden (12th – 22:40.75), and Avary Hunsinger (16th – 23:40.24).

The Dutch boys second varsity squad placed 3rd among all teams, one point behind Mediapolis. Jake Huston placed 10th (17:50.88), Jonah Ebersole was 13th (18:10.25), Atticus Vos earned 19th (18:44.9), Mars Chapel was 22nd (18:56.87), and Wyatt Van Dyke claimed 24th (19:05.08).


The Pella Cross Country teams will next begin their postseason journey on Monday, October 9th at the Little Hawkeye Conference meet at Indianola.
