The Norwalk boys golf team finished their season by placing seventh in Monday’s Class 4A District Tournament held at Ankeny’s Briarwood Golf Club. There were 14 teams in the field.
The Warriors posted a team score of 321, which was a collective 33 strokes over par. Junior Grady Sigrist was Norwalk’s top finisher in 14th place with a six-over-par round of 78. Sigrist missed qualifying for state individually by just two shots. Mason Johnson added a 79 for the Warriors, followed by Ian Lux with an 81 and Lane Juergens with an 83.
Southeast Polk claimed the district championship by 15 strokes over Ankeny Centennial, scoring a four-over-par 292. Also qualifying for state was third-place Dowling Catholic. Medalist honors went to Southeast Polk’s Cooper Patterson, who carded a 71 and was the only golfer to break par on the day. The Class 4A State Golf Tournament will take place Friday and Saturday at Ankeny’s Otter Creek Golf Course.
Norwalk had two seniors play on this year’s varsity squad in Adrian Bush and Owen Lux.
Norwalk Volleyball hosts DC-G
The Norwalk volleyball team will look to wrap up second place in the Little Hawkeye Conference tonight when they host Dallas Center-Grimes at 7:30. The Class 4A 9th-ranked Warriors are 17-12 overall and 4-1 in league play, trailing Indianola by one game in the loss column. DC-G is ranked 12th in 4A and stands 2-2 in the Little Hawkeye.
