Class 4A #2 Indianola claimed at least a share of the regular season Little Hawkeye Conference volleyball title Tuesday night with a 3-0 road sweep over Pella.
The Dutch took control of the match early, jumping out to a 15-7 lead in the first set, but the Indians ended the set on an 18-4 run to grab the 25-19 win. The two squads traded points for most of set two, as neither team led by more than four until Indianola scored the final point to go up 2-0 with a 25-20 victory. The third set was all Indians. Indianola scored the first 10 points of the set, and rode that momentum to the sweep with a 25-10 win. Makenzie Sloan led the Indians offense on the night with 13 kills, while Camryn Overton wasn’t far behind with 10. Katie Scheckel paced the Pella offense with 12 kills, while Hunter Hughell recorded 13 assists.
Indianola improved to 25-4 overall on the season and 5-0 in the conference, while Pella drops to 16-15 overall on the season and 3-2 in the conference. Both Indianola and Pella are back action on Saturday, each hosting a home tournament.
