Pella in Pink will be held again this year at the Cordova Park Pavilion at Lake Red Rock. The event presented by Pella Regional Health Center Foundation will start at 2 pm this Sunday with a remembrance ceremony, bounce houses for children, and a 1.2 mile trail hike around Kaar Trail. Foundation Coordinator at Pella Regional Jenny Hesseltine says the goal of this event is to raise awareness of breast cancer and support expanding breast care programs at Pella Regional.

Pella Regional’s breast care program helps women access essential screening, diagnostic and treatment services close to home at Pella Regional Health Center. Past support for Pella in Pink has helped with digital mammography, breast ultrasound and bone density services in a comforting environment. The hospital has started to offer surgical treatment and breast reconstruction under one anesthesia, through a partnership with our general surgeons and a specialist in plastic surgery. The goal is to broaden the offerings locally to include advanced breast MRI, genetic testing options and coordinated care through the entire journey.

“Continuing to grow these services right here in Pella matters greatly,” says Jenny Hesseltine, Foundation Coordinator at Pella Regional. “Being able to receive care locally at every step along a difficult journey makes it possible for time and energy to be spent on healing rather than coordinating schedules and drive time. This is one way we can extend our mission of providing healthcare and healing services with Christian compassion.”

Those who received shirts for the event can pick those up Thursday from 3:30–5:30 pm at Pella Regional’s Main Entrance located at 404 Jefferson Street. Hear more about Breast Cancer Awareness Month at Pella Regional on today’s Let’s Talk Pella.
