The Career Academy of Pella hosted a work-based learning tour on Wednesday, highlighting their programs and facilities.

The event featured the new Career Academy’s Advanced Manufacturing Lab and included student equipment demonstrations. Industrial Technology Teacher Brent Ewell said that the tour had two primary goals.

“The first goal was to thank all the different businesses and state agencies that were a part of this new open house of the advanced manufacturing lab and to give them the ability to see it in operation. The other thing was to help change the perception that it’s still a 1960s shop program, where kids come in and work on projects and we wanted them to be aware that we’re integrating STEM curriculum into the CTE programs and it’s much more high-tech than what it use to be.”
