In addition to the bank’s sponsorship of Pella in Pink, Leighton State Bank employees gave an additional $1,000 to the Pella Regional Health Center Foundation on Wednesday morning. Employees in all four LSB communities joined together to go “Casual for a Cause” by donating $5 to wear jeans on designated Fridays. Giving by LSB employees over the past four years has resulted in $3,000 in donations to Pella in Pink. The annual event raises awareness of breast cancer and supports breast care programs at Pella Regional.
Steve Fopma, LSB President and CEO, said, “Leighton State Bank and staff are pleased to again support this annual cause. Many of us have been personally connected with someone who has walked the journey of breast cancer so it is a cause we can readily identify with. Having a strong local medical provider and compassionate staff that provide quality care and resources makes the journey more manageable, and we are thankful we can support those efforts.”
Following the check presentation, LSB staff visited with PRHC’s Kara Groenenboom and Kim Pearson to hear about the benefits of providing local breast health support to Pella and the surrounding area. Patient services funded by the Pella Regional Health Center Foundation have saved many travel hours for patients.
“Pella Regional Health Center and Foundation are grateful for incredible community support of our Pella in Pink event and our ongoing mission to offer a great breast care program right here in Pella. Financial support of this program has allowed for advanced technology in the Women’s Imaging Center as well as extra special care along the journey with each patient through our Breast Care Nurse Navigator,” said Jenny Hesseltine, Foundation Coordinator. “Thank you, Leighton State Bank and Pella community for your generosity.”
