Marion County Public Health will be offering a flu shot clinic at every public school in Marion County starting with Knoxville Community Schools today.

This is an opportunity for students to protect themselves ahead of the upcoming flu season. There is a form that parents will need to fill out, sign, and have their child return to the school with them the day of the clinic. Marion County Public Health does not bill insurance so there will be an out of pocket cost, but students with Medicaid, no insurance, or insurance with no coverage for vaccines can have their flu shot covered by the state VFC program. Marion County Public Health Nurse Judi Van Hulzen says that it is  important for all students to get the flu vaccine.

“We want everyone to wash their hands, stay home when they’re sick, and cover their cough but the best way to prevent the flu is by really getting that flu vaccine.”
