After an unexpected blowout loss to Sigourney-Keota last Friday that likely dashed their district championship hopes, the Pella Christian football team will try to stay alive in the chase for the class 1A playoffs when they host Cardinal tonight on Eagle Lane.

P.C. is 4-2 on the season and 2-1 in the district, while Cardinal is 1-5 and 1-2. The Comets are being outscored by an average of 38-6 on the season, and Eagles coach Rich Kacmarynski hopes his team can take advantage tonight.

“Our focus has been on playing our best, and that’s what we’re hoping to do tonight. I’m hopeful that the varsity can take care of business because our younger kids, our sophomores, haven’t had a chance to play that much because we’ve had some very competitive games earlier in the season with a tough non-district schedule. It wouldn’t hurt my feeling if our JV gets a chance to get some reps in front of the home crowd and under the lights.”

It’s the regular season home finale tonight for the Eagles, with kickoff scheduled for 7pm. Trevor Castle and J.D. Boer will call the action live on the KRLS2 stream, beginning with pregame at 6:30. Audio commentary will also be available with video on the Pella Christian YouTube channel.
