The Pella Public Library will continue its Culture Night Series with Culture Night: Antarctica presented by Anya Butt soon.

Since 2017, the library’s Culture Nights have featured countries around the world, and now will feature a continent for the first time at the suggestion of one of their young patrons. Butt, a Professor of Biology at Central College, will share stories of her time spent as a researcher in Antarctica and talk about the history and geology of the continent on Monday, October 9 at 6:30 p.m.

Antarctica is a desert that holds most of the world’s fresh water in a vast ice sheet. It’s governed by the Antarctica Treaty written in 1959 which has been signed by 53 countries.

Culture Night: Antarctica will take place in the Pella Public Library Meeting Room and is free and open to the public.

Please call the library at 641-628-4268 if you have questions about this or other upcoming library events.
