Knoxville Hospital & Clinics (KHC) CEO Kevin Kincaid was awarded the 2023 Iowa Hospital Association’s Excellence in Leadership Award at the association’s annual meeting on October 10. This award is presented annually to an outstanding Iowa hospital or health system executive who shows achievement in local, state, and national health care affairs, leadership among peers, and contributions to the community.

Kincaid has been the CEO at KHC since 2012 and is noted for his advocacy for Critical Access Hospitals in Iowa and rural hospitals at the national level. In more than one nominating letter, Kincaid is described as a visionary who is driven by his desire for innovation and excellence. He excels at identifying strategies, initiatives, and administrative practices to improve quality of care, growth, service excellence, and employee/communication relations.

In addition to being described as an asset at the state and federal levels in health care advocacy efforts, Kincaid is also a credit to KHC and the Knoxville community. In his 11-year tenure, Kincaid has directed the facility to two transformative renovations, including the current $21 million expansion that will construct the new Don & Margaret Long Infusion Center and Weiler Foundation Specialty Clinic, renovate the Emergency Department, and add a new surgical suite. During the pandemic, Kincaid’s leadership was a steady and comforting voice. As he balanced the enormous task of sifting through state, federal, and health care mandates during an unprecedented time, his focus was always on his staff and community.

Kincaid’s commitment to excellence shows through his work at KHC, as well as his involvement in a variety of regional, state, and national boards and committees, all dedicated to preserving and advancing the quality and access to health care for rural Iowans in Marion County and beyond. His guidance within the health care industry makes him a leader on many health care issues.
