It was all Knoxville, all the time from first serve to the last point as the Panthers dominated Chariton to clinch their first outright South Central Conference title in four seasons 25-12, 25-3, and 25-6 on Tuesday. Knoxville handled just about everything Chariton threw at the Panthers and the Chargers could not handle the front row play of Knoxville. In sets two and three, the Panthers showed off their serving as Abbie Keitges aced the first eight points of the set two, and then her along with fellow freshman Addy Dunkin roared out to a 22-0 lead before Chariton hit the scoreboard in set theree. Keitges went 32/33 serving with ten aces, Dunkin was perfect in 13 attempts with three aces. Ella Breazeale led with 12 kills, Anna Buttell had eight and Brittany Bacorn had 27 assists. Seniors Mackenzie Karr and Katie Deaver told KNIA/KRLS Sports a lot of hard work was put in to claim the conference title back in Knoxville.
Mackenzie: “It feels amazing. We haven’t really had this in a long time so it’s great.
Katie: “It was freshman year last time we one the conference, and we’ve been working real hard to get to this point and it’s finally here.”
Knoxville is now 21-8 and finished South Central Conference play at 7-0. The Panthers will host their own invitational on Saturday.
