The Knoxville School Board approved a proposal for a new video scoreboard at Randy Wilson Track at their meeting Monday night.
The board approved a quote submitted by Daktronics in the amount of $258,341 for the scoreboard, and also approved a quote of $71,600 submitted by Ardent Lighting Group LLC for the installation, electrical and fiber work for the installation of it. This is part of the Randy Wilson Track renovation project and will be completed prior to the 2024 track and field season. Knoxville Community School District Business Manager Craig Mobley says this is something the kids in Knoxville deserve.
“This district has never had a scoreboard of this nature. We really feel like this is something our kids deserve to have. They go to a lot of other school districts that have this and are able to do different things to honor the student athletes, or the band members, or the dance team members, or the cheerleaders and so I think this will offer a good opportunity for that in the future.”
