Drought conditions remained unchanged throughout south central Iowa in the latest weekly update. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, 100% of Warren County and just over 75% of Marion County continue to see severe drought conditions. The northeastern corner of Marion County remains in moderate drought conditions. Rainfall that fell in the middle of this week missed the Tuesday cutoff for the update and will be included in next week’s report. According to the National Weather Service, chances for rain remain in the forecast into Saturday, before drier and cooler conditions are expected to return on Sunday.
