After two weeks of playing the class 3A District Six top two teams, the Knoxville Football Squad will take on a more manageable opponent tonight in week eight. The Panthers will travel to Perry, who last season was unable to finish the season due to lower numbers. Both teams are coming off losses as Knoxville fell to Creston 56-14 and Perry was shutout by Atlantic 21-0. While the BlueJays are still struggling to stay competitive and hold a 1-6 record Knoxville Coach Matt Dunkin tells KNIA/KRLS Sports this season’s edition of Perry is light years ahead of last season’s already.
Dunkin: “You can immediately see that they’re coached well and they have some size up front. They have a quarterback that can throw it well, and they also have a couple of running backs that have a lot of yards.”
Dunkin adds he is confident the passing game will work against Perry’s defense tonight. However, with the predicted rain, that could be a hindrance and Dunkin hopes the running game can make Knoxville more balanced. Listen to the action live on 95.3 KNIA with the pregame at 6:30 and kickoff at 7:30.
