The Knoxville School Board approved a proposal for new bleachers at the high school baseball field at their meeting Monday night.

The new bleachers will include a built in press box, and will double the current seating capacity at the baseball field. The board approved a quote submitted by TownsEnd for $149,540 for the bleachers, which will almost be completely funded by the Knoxville baseball parents. The current bleachers would be moved over to make for new visiting bleachers. Knoxville Community School District Business Manager Craig Mobley said this has been a partnership between the school board and the baseball parents.

“We’ve been working with a group of baseball parents on this project for quite some time. We came to an agreement with them that if they do some fundraising the school district will partner with them to help complete the project.”

The bleacher project is expected to be completed prior to the 2024 baseball season.
