Pella Christian High School held their Community Builders Day on Wednesday to lend a helping hand with projects and assist different organizations around the area.
Two hundred and sixty eight students participated as part of 23 groups to serve others and build community among the student body. High School Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher and Christian Service Committee Co-Chair Dr. Pam Vande Voort said that the purpose of the day is to give students a better understanding of the mission of Pella Christian schools.
“The goal of our Community Builders Day and Service Project Day is to really help our students understand the importance of our school mission, which is to educate and nurture our students to serve in God’s world. And we were just hoping that not only were students able to do some kind of community service, but also build community among the people that they were working with.”
Students did a variety of work including picking up trash at Lake Red Rock, pulling flowers to prepare for tulip bulbs to be planted with the City of Pella and the Pella Historical Society, building a Gaga Ball Pit at Pella Christian Grade School, and more. PCHS Student Council then hosted Chaos day in the afternoon, where students participated in different games on the football field.
Pella Christian High School will hold another service day the morning of Friday, January, 26th before Homecoming activities take place that afternoon.
