The Tulip city volleyball teams traveled to Newton Thursday night for the Little Hawkeye Conference Tournament, and Pella brought home a fourth place finish, while Pella Christian finished in 7th place.

En route to their fourth place finish, the Dutch defeated Pella Christian and Oskaloosa 2-1, but fell in 2-0 sweeps to Class 4A #2 Indianola and Class 4A #13 Dallas Center-Grimes. Adding to a solid night of volleyball for Pella, sophomore Katie Scheckel surpassed 1,000 career assists. 

In their three matches on the night, the Eagles were swept 2-0 by a ranked Indianola squad (21-8, 21-10) and fell 2-1 to Pella (21-15, 19-21, 15-7) and Oskaloosa (19-21, 21-18, 15-10). Addison Bandstra led the Pella Christian offense with 13 kills, and Eagles head coach Erica Boer stated that the team served well overall throughout the night. 

Pella Christian will wrap up regular season play Saturday morning at 8:30 with the Knoxville Tournament. The Pella volleyball team now turns their attention to postseason play, where they will travel to Bondurant-Farrar on Tuesday night for a 7 p.m. match.
