The Pleasantville football team will travel to Eldon tonight to take on the Cardinal Comets in their regular season finale.
The Trojans are 4-3 on the season and 2-2 in the district after a commanding 35-0 victory over Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont last Friday. The Trojans offense has found success with new starting freshman quarterback Braylon Bingham, and senior running back Caleb Cook continues to impress with over 1,100 all-purpose yards, and 18 touchdowns on the season. Pleasantville’s defense has pitched two consecutive shutouts over their last two games and they will look to keep the strong momentum going against the Comets.
The Trojans will now look to finish the regular season with a positive district record when they travel to Cardinal tonight. The Comets are 1-6 on the season and coming off a 43-0 loss to Pella Christian last Friday. Cardinal has only been able to muster up 38 total points all season long, but are looking to give the Trojans all they can handle tonight. Pleasantville Head Football Coach Mack Jorth says there’s a need to be prepared for the Comets to throw a lot of different looks at them.
“It’s kind of like expect anything. They’ve really tried a lot of different things and done a lot of different things. For us it’s been a matter of expect anything and expect everything. Make sure you get lined up. Make sure you are keeping proper assignment responsibility and leverage. Just go out there and play ball, and do your assignment.”
Tonight’s game against the Comets starts at 7:00 pm.
