The Knoxville Cancer Relay team will hold a post-relay celebration today at Peace Tree Brewing Company in Knoxville.
The event will run from 6:00-10:00 pm and there will be food from Backwoods Pizza, and live music by Andy Fleming & The Sweet Nothings. This is a celebration of the 2023 Knoxville Cancer relay, which took place from September 14th-September 16th, and the runners journey across the entire state of Iowa to raise money for the American Cancer Society. The relay this year raised just over $36,000 and this event is a way to keep momentum going to reach the goal of $50,000. This was the tenth year of the Knoxville Cancer Relay, which is one of the largest fundraisers in the state. Knoxville Cancer Relay runner Steve Linsley said that they are currently short of their goal, but there is still time to achieve it.
“We had set a goal for $50,000, so we’re a little bit short yet. We are still collecting funds through the third week of January so we still have some time to hit that $50,000 mark.”
