The Pella Christian volleyball team wrapped up the regular season Saturday at the Knoxville Invitational, going 3-2 and bringing home a fifth place finish.
In pool play, the Eagles fell in 2-0 sweeps to Union (21-12, 21-17) and ADM (21-15, 21-18), but swept Southeast Warren 2-0 (21-16, 21-14). Pella Christian then began bracket play with another 2-0 sweep against Albia (21-10, 21-19) to advance to the fifth place match. In the final game of the consolation bracket, the Eagles defeated Grinnell 2-1 (21-13, 19-21, 15-6) for their second win over the Tigers in 2023. Middle hitters Addison Bandstra (33) and Claire Westerkamp (20) combined for 53 kills on the day, while setter Chloe Huisman dished out 82 assists.
Pella Christian ends the regular season with a 16-20 record overall. The Eagles begin postseason play on Monday, hosting Interstate 35 in the first round of the Class 2A Region 3 Tournament at 7 p.m.
