During policy and planning Tuesday, the Pella City Council will discuss needs at the current Pella Municipal Airport. The council will consider submitting a request to the Federal Aviation Administration to update the current layout plan, which would identify needed improvements over the next twenty years. The plan would cost $35,000 from city funds to update. An update is needed as progress has been halted on a proposed regional airport in Mahaska County after the Iowa Supreme Court ruled their Board of Supervisors could leave a 28E agreement originally drafted in 2013. If that proposal ultimately fails, the city would need to prepare for significant updates to the current airport. Tuesday’s Pella City Council meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the Pella Public Safety Complex.
