The Pella Christian volleyball team opened the Class 2A Region 3 Tournament in dominant fashion Monday night, cruising to a 3-0 sweep over the Interstate 35 Roadrunners.

It was all Eagles from first serve, as they opened the match on a 13-2 run en route to winning the first set 25-11. Interstate 35 hung tougher in the second set, but Pella Christian held them at bay to win 25-17 and move within one set of the sweep. The third set was all Eagles once again, as they coasted to a 25-9 victory to advance in the postseason. Addison Bandstra posted a team-high 10 kills in the match, while Addie Van Arendonk led Pella Christian in aces with five. Faith Kacmarynski recorded 19 digs on the night and Chloe Huisman added 29 assists to her school record, which now stands at 2,180 career assists.  

Pella Christian improved to 17-20 overall on the season and will now face Class 2A #15 Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont in the quarterfinals on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
