A Pella man was arrested by the Pella Police Department Sunday on a felony assault charge.

A victim reported to law enforcement that they had been assaulted by Joseph McKay on the morning of Monday, October 9th. The victim claimed that she was pushed up against a door and wasn’t allowed to leave. It was reported that the action left marks and bruises. McKay also allegedly took a phone to prevent contacting law enforcement. McKay has previously been charged with three prior domestic abuse assaults, all of which led to convictions. 

McKay is charged with domestic abuse assault – third or subsequent offense, a class D felony, and obstruction of emergency communications, a simple misdemeanor. Bond has been set at $5,000 and he is due in court October 19th.
